While Richardson fudges the per pupil tuition rates for the K-8 to make the Academy look good (at the UnTruth website), the Cafe takes its data from a legitimate source, the State Department of Education. Here are the basic facts about K-8 per pupil spending in Woodstock.
These figures are taken from the State DOE data for the most recent fiscal year posted – 2006/2007.
• The Woodstock School System ranks 162nd out of 169 CT towns in Per Pupil Spending;
• Woodstock has the lowest Per Pupil Spending of the surrounding and Academy sending towns;
• The top CT towns in Per Pupil Spending spend $7000-$8000 more Per Pupil than Woodstock; and
• Woodstock is joined by Thompson, Pomfret, and Brooklyn as some of the lowest spenders for education in the State, yet Woodstock stands well above these other towns in scholarship achievement.
