I guess it doesn’t really matter if we can’t read the article anyway, Herman Cain will be history by Thanksgiving. Today’s polls already show him in third place behind Romney and even what’s his name, the guy from Georgia who used to be speaker or something like that.
The link works for me.
If you go to NYTimes look for:
“In Favor of Dirty Jokes and Risqué Remarks”

Had no problem getting right to the article. Very interesting, but “The Devil and Joe Paterno” really peaked my interest. Excellent comparison as to how the Catholic Church mis-handled a similar issue that faced Penn State and who played a major role in the “cover up” process.
I love the “outrage” of the left for sexual harassment allegations when it’s a conservative compared to the silence when it’s one of their own.
Clinton’s victims were “tramps” and “bimbos” even after sworn statements from law enforcement. Even after proof of his predatory behavior and claims of actual rape.
If Cain really did those things than he should step aside.
However I have a feeling the hard left will stoop to any low to protect the untouchable Barry….. The one who has all records sealed.
I guess all pigs are equal….. some are more equal than others.

Dbrownie
Let me get this straight-are you suggesting bad sexual behavior by Obama is being covered up? Seriously?
DB, I also remember republicans making a big deal about how Clinton treated women. I think the hypocrisy includes those republicans who are now saying this is a nonissue who pilloried Clinton for the same thing (with only one allegation of harrassment). The Democrats that ignored Clintons issues and are now going after Cain are hypocrites too.
Dean you are spot on wrong behavior is wrong. It should not come with a R or a D. I guess politics takes priorities to some….

Doubtful:
No that is one thing we don’t need to worry about with our current President.
Virtually everything else is a cover up with him aided by a compliant, fawning press.
Db
I disagree with Db. I have not seen “outrage” from the left over Cain’s sexual harrassment allegations. I have only seen reporting of the facts.
Also, I do not see the press as fawning over President Obama. In fact, it seems to me that they have been quite critical.
This leads me to believe that Db gets his news from right wing pundits who feed naive people like Db a line of spin.
So do us all a favor Db, don’t try to re-spin the garbage onto us. Unless you have first hand knowledge or documented sources, the only thing you are successfully accomplishing is making yourself sound like a Rush Limbaugh lemming.
D;
What facts would that be?
That one of the accusers works for the Obama administration? Or that another has a history of suing her workplace for harassment?
Maybe we could wait and see before we pass judgement.
Disgusted also says:
“Also, I do not see the press as fawning over President Obama. In fact, it seems to me that they have been quite critical.”
Which press would that be? You must be joking..:)
Here is a recent example..
The Washington Post gave front-page coverage to the latest development in the Solyndra scandal: E-mail records show that the Obama White House urged the solar energy company to postpone layoffs until after the 2010 midterm elections.
ABC, CBS, and NBC have ignored the development in their November 15 evening newscasts as well as their November 16 morning programs.
There are dozens and dozens of examples of the press giving Obama and his failed administration a pass over and over again.
From record unemployment to selling guns to drug dealers Obama can do no wrong in the eyes of the faithful.
For what it’s worth, I get my news from lots of sources
NPR,Reuters, BBC, Ap as well as others.
I don’t listen to Rush Limbaugh. Nor do I listen/watch MSNBC.
Just one of the struggling lazy Americans who
is not happy with the failing economy.

db – in one email you indict “the left”, while your examples and illustrations deal mostly with ‘the media’. They are not the same. Yes, there is a liberal bias in the media (the extent to which that bias informs journalism is subject to debate), but that doesn’t mean by a long stretch that the media speaks for or represents the left or that their reaction and treatment to and of a story or issue is representative even of that of the left.
I agree that media coverage has been different, but individual American Citizen’s reaction is not something easily ‘captured’ without Polls and the like, all of which are filters of one sort or another – all to say, I’m not sure you can even say with any confidence (yet) how “the left” is responding to this and I don’t hear any support for the assertion that “the left” (as opposed to ‘the media’) reacted differently/unfairly with Clinton, etc.
Remember, Sexual Harassment is an majorly important issue for what Rush calls the “Feminazis” ie, any woman who is on the left – as defined by Rush (solely in his bigoted judgement), mostly because they (i) dare speak their mind; and (ii) believe in the same thing as the Founding Fathers, the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and the Federalist Papers: the fundamentally American principle of Equality.
Con:
Ok point taken, I do usually commingle the “left” with the media. That is probably my own bias. Usually the media speaks what I would consider a leftist view.
However lately the media seems to be part of a ” government media complex” parroting what the administration wants to be the message. I understand that all news is filtered though the reporter and comes with some slight slant. But when the government seems to be controlling the message it has a disturbing feel to it.
I realize when I say the left I am painting with a wide brush, a true liberal may disagree with your opinion but would fight to the death for your right to express it.
Sadly we are seeing the opposite where if you disagree, you should shut your mouth.
Fortunately the Cafe’ admin does not practice this, as do most of the participants here.

Proper behavior prevents insults and statements intended to belittle or offend, no matter the sex, race, age or culture. At least that’s what our lives are intended for, in this United States of America. It’s so strange how often the basic tenets of an entire country’s citizens disintegrate due to neuroses. A nationwide mental illness, this tendency toward harassment and intimidation, irresponsible corporate executives and deceptive politicians.
